Witches walk

"Ca-ca-ca-Ha-ha-ca-ca-caw!" For a few brief moments the crows mocking sounds were like human laughter. The big black feathered scavenger had been taunting Alexa relentlessly for days by now. Was it leading her somewhere, or was it simply following, waiting for her to fail, waiting to see her go insane.

Who knew what was actually going on any more, everything since that stupid experiment was like a jumbled blur of impossible nonsense. Even she was starting to think she might be losing it at this point. 

That stupid bird and its incessant mocking... She clenched her fist so tight it shook. "Shut it, you stupid bird..." She growled at the crow.

As if walking through a dark dilapidated forest in the middle of the night wasn't bad enough she didn't need that damned bird mocking her. Jutting from branch to branch always remaining just a few feet ahead, just out of reach...

"Ca-ca-ca-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ca-caw!!! Stupid girl!!! Stupid witch!!! Doesn't even realize what she did! Ca-ca-ca-ha-ha-haw!!!"

Alexa's fist shook violently. "I said SHUT IT you dumb f***ing bird!!!" She screamed. Her arms shaking, the weight of the metal bat in her hand reminding her of the weapon she had in her possession. Her arm reared back, "Rraah!!!" With an angry grunt she swung, tossing the bat at the crow who squawked and took off quickly to avoid the oncoming projectile.

The dead fragile branch it was resting on splintered and shattered falling to the ground, followed shortly after by the sound of the bat hitting dirt and rock somewhere ahead in the dark foreboding woods.

"Ca-ca-ca-ha-ha-ha!!! Stupid stupid girl!" 

Alexa growled, her heart pounding, fists shaking as she took deep heated breaths, scowling at the bird, just waiting for the moment she could get her hands on it.

Suddenly she stopped, there was a sound, a rustling in the bushes, something was there, something just out of sight... Had it been there all along? Was it stalking her? Waiting for the right moment?

She gasped, how stupid, she had just thrown away her only defense, that crow! That damn bird! This was his fault!!! She started breathing quickly, maybe if she ran, maybe she could get to the bat before whatever it was in the woods could get to her...

"Ca-ca-ca-ha-ha-ha, Stupid girl! Stupid girl!"

"I said shut it you stupid bird!!!" Alexa yelled making a mad dash to where she heard the bat land as the bushes started rustled fiercely and her stalker burst forth already in hot pursuit...
